CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 11, 2024) – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the final 2023-24 Learfield Division III Directors' Cup standings Tuesday and for the second straight year, the Stevens Institute of Technology Department of Athletics finished 18th out of the 323 institutions that earned at least one point.

Stevens accumulated a combined 648 points across the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons, marking the Ducks' 14th consecutive finish in the top-45 (approximately 10%) of all Division III institutions. Within the same time frame, Stevens has ranked inside the top-20 Division III schools in each of the last six iterations of the prestigious final standings. Final Learfield Division III Directors' Cup standings were not tabulated for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

Stevens, who slotted between Wartburg (707.50) and Lynchburg (623.35) in the final standings, was again the highest finisher among the 16 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) institutions and across all three NCAA divisions, Stevens finished second among schools that call the Garden State home, trailing Princeton (Division I) by just 6.5 points. The Ducks were tops among all New Jersey-based Division III institutions.

For the second straight year, Johns Hopkins University finished first in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings. The Blue Jays totaled 1,090 points as they scored in 17 total sports (including three of the four countable sports), including nine teams with top-10 finishes. Johns Hopkins finished second in women's field hockey and third in women's indoor track and field. Overall, up to 18 total sports may count towards the final Directors' Cup standings, four of which must be men's basketball and soccer, and women's basketball and soccer, leaving the next 14 highest points scored to also be counted.

Williams finished second with 1026.08 points, with women's rowing leading the way for the Ephs. Williams scored in 19 sports, including two of the four countable sports. Emory slotted in third with 1,009 points, with Tufts (992.50) and NYU (964.50) rounding out the top five.

Among conference institutions, Messiah totaled 370 points to slot in 46th and rank as the conference's second-highest finisher. Among New Jersey-based schools, Rowan amassed 603.58 to finish 44.42 points behind Stevens in 21st place.

The top-20 finish concluded another strong calendar year for Stevens Athletics. The Ducks compiled a 290-151-8 record across the team sports during the 2023-24 athletic year, producing a 0.652 winning percentage. Stevens captured 12 MAC or MAC Freedom titles and finished with a sterling 97-26 (0.789 winning percentage) record in conference play (excluding Men's Fencing's 10-3 mark in MACFA competition). Perhaps even more impressively, Stevens made Hoboken an incredibly difficult place for opponents this year, finishing with a remarkable 137-29-5 record for a 0.813 winning percentage.

It was again the spring season that was the department's most successful as the Ducks scored in seven different sports to total 379.50 points – the ninth-best total in Division III. Men's Volleyball produced 83 points to lead the department after again reaching the national semifinals. Men's Lacrosse contributed 64 points (second-highest single-sport total for Stevens) to the department total after reaching the third round of the NCAA Tournament, while Women's Lacrosse, Men's Tennis and Women's Tennis each added 50 points after winning an NCAA opening-round contest. Men's Golf added 26 points based on the program's NCAA finish, while Laura Mathews' national championship boosted Stevens to 17th place in the Outdoor Track and Field Championship to add another 56.5 points.

Stevens finished the fall in 40th place after accumulating 125 points on the strength of three teams reaching their sport's respective NCAA Tournament. Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball each totaled 50 points to the department total after each posting an NCAA victory, while Field Hockey's second MAC Freedom crown added 25.

The winter saw Stevens remain in 40th place after accumulating 143.50 points. Two of the department's four highest finishes took place in the winter season. Mathews' multiple All-America honors saw the Ducks accumulate 60.75 points from women's indoor track and field, while Stefan Major and Ryan Smith were also All-Americans as wrestling accumulated 57.75 points based on the team's finish at nationals. Mathews earned another two All-America honors in the spring.

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships. Eighteen total teams can be scored for the final standings, four of which must be men's and women's basketball and men's and women's soccer.
