Good day,
I realize this question if almost too simple to be believed, but...
I wanted to maximize the window that opens up when I click on the Chrome icon on the taskbar. Went to Chrome icon on taskbar & right-clicked, then hovering mouse of the Google Chrome choice that comes up, I then clicked on Properties, selected Maximize at Run (under Shortcut tab) and now Chrome opens maximized.
However, now also the User Account Control notice comes up EVERY time I open Chrome, even though under the Compatibility tab of Chrome Properties, the box "run this program as an administrator" is not checked. I realize I can stop the UAC notice from popping up by putting it to "never" in the UAC Settings. But I read that that setting is not advisable. And furthermore, the UAC box never came up before I maximized, and I've had this laptop about 7 months.
The UAC does not appear when opening up Firefox. (I do not and will not use the Edge browser.)
Any suggestions please to stop UAC from appearing every time without disabling it in UAC settings?
Thank you

Thank you FreeBooter, These instructions are probably far beyond my ability to handle, but I will look at it further this evening.
What is puzzling is that the UAC notice never came up this entire 7 months I've been using this laptop until I changed Google Chrome properties to maximize the window when opening up. I possibly did more than just maximize but not sure.
Thanks.

Disclaimer: I still use Windows 10, so I do NOT know if this course of action will work, and I would really like to apologize in advance if it does NOT, but anyway, you can try this:
Please right-click on the Google Chrome icon on your taskbar and click Unpin From the Taskbar, which will delete (remove) the icon.
Then, please press and hold down the Ctrl (Control) button on your keyboard, click on the Google Chrome icon on your desktop while you drag the icon to your taskbar, and drop it where you want it, which will recreate the icon.
Upon doing the above, please click the new Google Chrome icon on your taskbar to start the web browser in a Normal window, click the Maximize button in the upper right corner of the browser, and click the exit button.
Restart Google Chrome as you did above and the browser should now run maximized by default. And whatever properties you changed on the previous taskbar browser icon are gone.
Good luck!

Thank you Sec and Web Browser and midimusicman79 (post #4).
I had to sign out of gmail, then I basically performed your instructions - except I dragged the Google Chrome icon from the listing in Apps (it was not on the desktop) and I restarted the laptop (rather than Google Chrome).
And the UAC pop up is gone.
Thanks so much!
